Congressman Ben Chandler (D-KY, 6th) Joins as Co-Sponsor of Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act

Visit by Lung Cancer Alliance Advocates Spurs Action

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Lung Cancer Alliance Kentucky/So. Indiana (LCA-KY/So.IN) Chapter hailed the support of Congressman Ben Chandler (D-KY, 6th) who has joined in support of first ever legislation to fund a multi-agency, comprehensive program targeted at lung cancer.  Entitled Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act, H.R. 2112 authorizes a five year program to reduce the mortality rate of lung cancer which continues to be the number one cancer killer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death nationally and in Kentucky, taking more lives than breast, prostate and colon cancers--combined.

"We must elevate lung cancer to a national public health priority because thousands of families in Kentucky are—and will continue to be—hurt by this disease," Congressman Chandler said. "I am proud to sign onto this legislation to help promote a more comprehensive plan of action that will help all those either living with or at risk for lung cancer – not only in Kentucky – but across this country."
