Congressional Candidate Clyde Williams Names Core Campaign Team, Including Former Aide to East Harlem City Council Member, VotoLatino Founder, and Former Bloomberg Deputy Press Secretary
NEW YORK, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clyde E. Williams Jr., candidate for NY's Congressional District 13, announced his core campaign team today, including East Harlem native and former aide to NYC Council Member Mark-Viverito, Rakim Brooks; founder of VotoLatino Phil Colon; former Deputy Press Secretary to Mayor Bloomberg Silvia Alvarez; and former VP of Communications for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Maribel La Luz.
Rakim Brooks, a Rhodes Scholar and lifelong resident of the Robert F. Wagner Houses, will serve as Campaign Manager. Colon and Alvarez will serve as Deputy Campaign Manager and Senior Communications Advisor, respectively; and La Luz will serve as Deputy Communications Director.
"I think I have the perfect team to support my candidacy -- a great team of professionals, with experience from the grassroots to the national level," said Williams.
In addition to these appointments, Williams also announced other campaign roles, including event and volunteer coordinators, a finance director, digital media lead and field coordinators. Williams, a former advisor to Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, entered the race to unseat 40-year incumbent Charles Rangel on March 22.
