Precision-Guided Firearm Company Hires Respected Tech Industry Veteran; President Hopes Move Will Clear Way for More Women in Gun Firm Executive Ranks
AUSTIN, Texas, April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TrackingPoint™, creator of the world's first Precision Guided Firearm (PGF) system, today announced that Marsha L. Osborn has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Operations. Osborn, a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in operations, supply chain, quality, logistics and organization management, will lead TrackingPoint's initiatives to scale its business in response to burgeoning market demand.
With women underrepresented in executive positions in the firearms industry, TrackingPoint President Jason Schauble hopes to establish greater balance through hires such as Osborn. "Marsha Osborn is a clear example of an individual who is right for a position. Her accomplishments as an executive speak for themselves," he stated. "We're fortunate to have attracted someone of Marsha's talent and drive at TrackingPoint. We look forward to the contributions she will make—not only to our company as it enters a very challenging and exciting phase in its development, but also to our industry."
Osborn comes to TrackingPoint from Motion Computing, an Austin-based provider of mobile device solutions. Hired as Director of Operations at Motion Computing in 2004, she was eventually promoted to Vice President of Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics and Quality. Osborn led supply chain, fulfillment, operations, and worldwide manufacturing for all of Motion Computing's products; among her many accomplishments, she led the company's direction to an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) strategy for the tablet PCs it supplies to vertical markets.
Prior to Motion Computing, Osborn served as Director of Business Development and Director of Manufacturing Austin for Tyco Electronics. Other executive posts have included operations and business acquisition management positions at Raytheon Systems, Texas Instruments, and Headway Research.
At TrackingPoint, Osborn will lead the company's efforts to support its business opportunities through reliable, repeatable manufacturing, supply chains, logistics and quality control. "TrackingPoint is a company with a remarkable upside," Osborn commented. "Its landmark technologies have multiple and far-reaching applications. I'm looking forward to meeting the diverse operational challenges that come with such innovation."
Named as Woman of the Year in Technology by the National Association of Professional Women, Osborn is also an experienced markswoman. She has spoken at a number of high-tech industry events and has achieved her Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Osborn has a bachelor's degree in business administration (industrial engineering) from the University of North Texas.
