Conference to Examine Utilities in Age of Disruptive Technologies
WASHINGTON, April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With disruptive technologies fundamentally changing the way electricity is generated and distributed, utilities are challenged now more than ever to rethink their business propositions.
On Thursday April 9 and 10, Public Utilities Fortnightly and Llewellyn King are hosting the "Utilities: Uncertain Future" conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The day-and-a-half event will examine a number of key issues that utilities now face, including the rollout of increasing numbers of rooftop solar panels, energy storage devices and microgrids -- all of which are challenging utilities to examine their future business models.
The event will feature, among others, Barbara Lockwood, general manager of regulatory policy, APS; David K. Owens, executive vice president, EEI; Steve Corneli, senior vice president, NRG Energy; Stan Blazcewicz, vice president of business development, National Grid; Ken Munson, president, Sunverge Energy, Inc.; Pamela Keefe, chief financial officer, EPRI, Philip Moeller, commissioner, FERC; W. Terry Boston, president, PJM Interconnection; Brian Keane, president, SmartPower; and Sue Kelly, president, APPA.
Companies such as NRG Energy are setting the pace, having established arms of their businesses that seek to deploy more distributed energy, thereby maintaining their revenues and marketshare. Meantime, technological partners such as Sunverge Energy are partnering with utilities to keep them in the game.
This conference is open press.
