WASHINGTON, Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Global Policy Institute (GPI), a Washington D.C. based think tank, is to host a conference on Syrian refugee issue at the National Press Club on Thursday, February 18 @ 6:30 PM.
Among the participants in the conference are the Ambassador of Palestine at the UN Dr. Riad H. Mansour, Founder and Chairman of BAU Global Mr. Enver Yucel, Executive Director of CAIR Nihad Awad, Prof. Selcuk Sirin of New York University, President of GPI Prof. Walid Phares, Dr. Halil Mutlu, and the participants from the US Government and various NGOs.
As the flows of refugees coming from the Middle East are streaming through Europe, the international community is mobilizing to address this growing humanitarian crisis. In order to contribute to such efforts, Global Policy Institute (GPI) is organizing the conference "Syrian Refugees: Past, Present, and Future" with the aim of introducing viable policies for the displaced people's wellbeing and integration into their host countries as well as addressing the root causes of the migration.
Keynote speaker of the conference, The Ambassador of Palestine at the United Nations Dr. Riad H. Mansour will be addressing the issue from a comparative perspective with the question in mind: "Can there be lessons drawn from the Palestinian case?"
Prof. Selcuk Sirin from New York University will present brief on the current status of the refugees in Turkey, where the largest amount of Syrian refugees reside.
Founder and Chairman of BAU Global Mr. Enver Yucel will be pointing to the international implications of the current refugee crisis, with an emphasis on the educational perspective. Mr. Yucel was recently granted an award on education by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The conference will be introduced and moderated by Prof. Walid Phares, the President of GPI.
NGOs, diplomatic missions, scholars, community leaders, media members, and students will be among the participants in the conference.
