Cummins Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 24, 2014, Cummins Inc. (Cummins) reported that it has begun construction of the new Seymour Technical Center for High-Horsepower Engines Business to be co-located within the Seymour Engine Plant near 22 test cells dedicated to engine research and development work for mining, rail, oil and gas, marine, power generation, and industrial applications. According to the Company, the technical center and the ongoing expansion of the manufacturing plant at the Cummins Seymour facility amounts to more than $250 million worth of major investment, with the new office building expected to be ready by August 2015. General Dynamics Corporation Analyst Notes
On June 25, 2014, General Dynamics Corporation (General Dynamics) announced that General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, a part of its General Dynamics C4 Systems (a business unit of the Company), will build and install a 100-ton, 12-meter, submillimeter-wavelength radio telescope antenna for the new Large Latin American Millimeter Array (LLAMA) observatory. According to the Company, the LLAMA project is a joint venture between Argentina and Brazil which aims to provide scientists around the globe with high-powered "lens" to study the structure of the universe, black holes and the molecular evolution of interstellar clouds. General Dynamics added that the new radio telescope antenna will be built similar to the 25 SATCOM Technologies-built radio telescope antennas being used at the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) observatory located in the Chilean portion of the Atacama Desert, some 200 km away from the LLAMA site. On July 1, 2014, Deere & Company (John Deere) announced the expansion of its line-up of commercial front mower models with the introduction of the new 1500 Series TerrainCut™ Front Mowers series that adds five new models, the 1550, 1570, 1575, 1580, and 1585 TerrainCut to the existing front mower line-up.
