Concurrent Technologies Corporation's eVPP Tool Receives 2011 Technology Product of the Year Award from TECHQuest Pennsylvania
JOHNSTOWN, Pa., June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) recently received the Technology Product of the Year Award from TECHQuest Pennsylvania for the eVPP Tool. Companies were nominated based on the development of a technological product, product line, or product service that achieved significant recognition and market impact in Pennsylvania over the past 12 months. TECHQuest PA is the regional technology council in Central Pennsylvania. TECHQuest PA's 19th Annual Technology Gala was held in Harrisburg, PA.
In addition to its nomination and win for the Technology Product of the Year Award, the eVPP tool was also a finalist in the Technology Provider of the Year category. CTC President & Chief Executive Officer Edward J. Sheehan, Jr. emphasized the importance of the award and recognition. "For the second time in three years, CTC has taken home the Technology Product of the Year Award from TECHQuest PA. This award showcases CTC's talent and dedication to developing innovative solutions to help every client meet its mission."
Mr. Joseph Angello, Defense Safety Oversight Council (DSOC) Executive Secretary, Director of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) for Operational Readiness & Safety stated that "the DSOC has a very ambitious goal to attain 400 Department of Defense Voluntary Protection Program star sites, and the eVPP Tool is a valuable asset to facilitate management and provide important metrics for the installations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and OSD. The tool also directly supports the Secretary of Defense charge to increase efficiency across the Department of Defense."
The eVPP Tool is a web portal created by CTC to help improve safety and health management systems at military installations worldwide. It supports the Department of Defense (DoD) quest to achieve Star Status under Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). The tool currently has over 3,000 individual users at more than 300 military installations across the globe. The eVPP Tool has provided a significant return on investment to DoD by:
- Helping to reduce civilian lost work days by 40%.
- Providing economies of scale to deliver consulting, training, and project management expertise to installations worldwide.
- Allowing military departments to gain a snapshot of Safety and Occupational Health performance across their organizations by aggregating individual performance into a department-wide picture, affording the ability to assess and address systemic issues.
- Providing essential data for submission to OSHA.
- Showing historical records of action items completed.
- Allowing for the site to be "copied," so sub-units can pursue VPP separately.
In 2009, CTC took home the Technology Product of the Year Award for the Real-time Avatars and Environments Learning (REAL) technology. These 3D interactive technology products for the U.S. Department of Defense and PA Department of Corrections used ground-breaking simulation game technology to immerse trainees in real-life situations.
