"We are thrilled to add two entrepreneurial, industry visionaries to our team," said Dan Mondor, President and CEO of Concurrent. "As co-founders of a company that pushed the boundaries of video delivery, Kshitij and Dr. Ram bring invaluable experience and creativity to our organization. We are excited to work with them to strengthen our own video technology platform with the technology we also recently acquired from TellyTopia."
In September 2010, Concurrent announced the purchase and addition of TellyTopia's patent-pending, cloud-based, online video platform to Concurrent's multi-screen portfolio. This technology further extends the company's leadership in multi-screen video delivery, advertising and media data management. Mr. Kumar and Dr. Srinivasan joined Concurrent following this technology acquisition.
"I have long admired the creativity and passion with which Concurrent attacks the challenges in video delivery, such as the Start-Over," said Kshitij Kumar, Vice President of Commercial Solutions for Video Solutions at Concurrent. "As a new member of the video solutions team at Concurrent, my goal is to help lead the company into developing and deploying innovative video solutions for customers across multiple screens."
Mr. Kumar comes to Concurrent with almost two decades of leadership experience in the telecom, video and Internet industries. In addition to TellyTopia, he has founded and co-founded several startups, including CanadaFlix (a precursor to the Netflix), Renaissance Systems and Lantern Canada. Mr. Kumar was also the key force behind turning around an ailing Lantern and enabling its eventual sale to C-COR. Mr. Kumar started his career at C-DoT, helping build the first generation of Indian Digital Switching Systems for Telephony. Later, he became a key Technical Leader at Nortel in Ottawa, Canada, designing cutting edge Object Oriented Voice Switching Systems and Nortel's Terabit Optical Core MPLS Router product.
Mr. Kumar holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, Canada and a B.Tech. in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, India, where he received the Chancellors medal for being ranked first at graduation in the University.
"In today's consumer-driven society, the companies who evolve the fastest to meet the rising demand for video are those who will succeed," said Dr. Ram Srinivasan, Chief Architect of Video Solutions. "We are excited to join technology and leadership forces with Concurrent and bring about a new evolution of video delivery and monetization."
Dr. Srinivasan brings a blend of global business and technology experience to Concurrent in areas such as mass customization, vertical search, digital TV, online shopping, and digital mapping. He has over 25 years of experience in various functions, developing innovative ideas and transforming them to create successful business. Dr. Srinivasan was responsible for technology strategy and product development at TellyTopia. He was CEO of FitMe, a startup that led disruptive technologies to enable mass customization of lifestyle solutions. He has held leadership positions at C-Cube, a pioneer in digital television headend systems and consumer set tops for the satellite and cable markets.
Dr. Srinivasan graduated from Stanford's Advanced Management College. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas (Arlington), and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Warangal, India.
