150-acre Navodo Bay compound on Vanua Levu island to sell at auction on November 21st
FIJI, SOUTH PACIFIC, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Generous private shorelines, charming Fijian structures and expansive acreage of jungle await the highest bidder. Leading luxury marketplace Concierge Auctions is pleased to announce its upcoming auction of Navodo Bay, a secluded and self-sustaining Fijian compound located on 150 freehold acres with nearly a mile of sugar-sand private beach frontage on Vanua Levu, the second largest island in Fiji. Considered amongst the locals as 'a tropical crown jewel,' Navodo Bay is a one-of-a-kind compound accessible only by boat or seaplane. Currently listed for $20 million USD, the estate will sell at or above $8.8 million USD on November 21st in cooperation with Philip Toogood of Bayleys Real Estate (Fiji) LTD and will represent Concierge's fourth Fijian property sold.
"When it comes to private tropical retreats in Fiji and across the South Pacific, nothing comes close to Navodo Bay. Created with passion, vision and a huge amount of expended energy, what was once a dense Fijian jungle is now a beautiful resort-style home, and more," Toogood stated. "We have never had such an uplifting and calming property to offer to a discerning global market."
A true labor of love that took 10 years to complete, Navodo Bay is an unbelievable oasis built by its one and only proprietor. Set upon the peninsula's narrowest section is the heart of the estate, a spectacular 5,000-square-foot British Colonial residence with an expansive ocean-facing veranda. The property boasts a grand great room for entertaining, a gourmet kitchen, an expansive master suite with an executive office, three en-suite bedrooms and an upstairs children's retreat. A separate structure adjacent to the main house is used as game room/yoga studio.
Navodo Bay also includes five traditional beachfront bures, Fijian for 'thatch-roofed hut.' Each of these guest cottages offers a split-level plan with a sitting room and an en-suite master bedroom with an indoor-outdoor shower and wraparound porch. Four of the bures, each of which are approximately 1,200 square feet, are located along the half moon bay, while the fifth – the largest at approximately 2,000 square feet – is located on opposing beach frontage.
Additional structures include a charming South Pacific Colonial hilltop chapel with statues and ornate fittings sourced from Italy, a separate caretaker's home and an additional staff dormitory.
Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy Navodo Bay's three distinct beaches that offer nearly a mile of beach frontage. Surfing, fishing from the edge of the impressive wooden pier jutting out 130 feet into the sea, and snorkeling to explore the reefs and tropical life just beneath the shore are all offered here, as are rainforest hikes, bike trails, kayaking, paddle boarding and deep sea diving. Expansive walking paths are located throughout the compound, which is completely self-sustaining with wind and solar power electricity and water collected in a 500,000-liter tank. Two boats are available for transportation to and from the main land.
"We consistently sell premier island properties and have been active in the Fiji market since 2013, so I can say with educated knowledge that Navodo Bay is in a league of its own," said Sarena Irwin, vice president of client services at Concierge Auctions. "The new owner has many options, including utilizing the compound as a private getaway, a world-class holiday destination, or even a high-end retreat or tropical resort."
Vanua Levu, formerly known as Sandalwood Island, is located directly across from the island of Taveuni and offers incredible views, water sports and more. The island abounds with hiking trails, jungle valleys, coconut plantations and hot springs year round. Vanua Levu is home to the world-renowned Rainbow Reef, consistently rated as one of the world's best dive spots, located just across the way from Navodo Bay. Within Fiji's main islands are a great network of taxis, buses, carriers, and ferries. Off the main island, transportation is typically done by boat or seaplane, for an impressive arrival to this private island compound. The largest Fiji Island, Viti Levu, is a ten and a half hour flight from Los Angeles.
Concierge Auctions will host an informational event in Los Angeles at The Hart and The Hunter restaurant from 6 to 8pm on November 5th. The property will be available for viewing by appointment. Brokers are protected and eligible for a 2.5% commission. See Auction Terms and Conditions for full details. For more information call 212.257.5018.
