Concha y Toro and Manchester United Invite Chile's 33 Miners to Old Trafford
SANTIAGO, Chile, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Among the highlights of this weekend's state visit to the United Kingdom by Chilean President Sebastian Pinera was a meeting at London's Dorchester Hotel with Sir Alex Ferguson, Manager of the Manchester United Football Club, and Rafael Guilisasti, Vice Chairman of Vina Concha y Toro, Chile's premier wine producer and a proud new sponsor of England's most celebrated soccer team. President Pinera's visit comes just days after the successful rescue of 33 Chilean miners, following 69 days of captivity underground, a feat that captured global headlines and was viewed by millions worldwide.

Following a formal presentation by Sir Alex of a signed team shirt, Mr. Guilisasti congratulated the Chilean President on his unwavering commitment to the rescue operation and paid tribute to the level of professionalism demonstrated by the rescuers involved. Manchester United and Vina Concha y Toro then went on to issue a joint invitation to the 33 Chilean miners to travel to Manchester in 2011 to attend a Premier League game at the legendary Old Trafford stadium.
"We are honored to recognize the people of Chile, in the person of our president," stated Mr. Guilisasti "and wish to express the admiration of our company for the remarkable work undertaken in this rescue operation. From the heroism and fortitude demonstrated by the miners, to the management and logistics employed by the top-level technicians who worked to secure this happy ending, all are an example of the dedication, teamwork and leadership values we also share at Vina Concha y Toro. Given that so many of the 33 miners are soccer fans, the invitation to enjoy an international-level game at Old Trafford is one we believe they will particularly appreciate."
Sir Alex Ferguson added, "The miracle of San Jose is one of the most remarkable stories I've ever heard. The courage, bravery and resilience of the miners and the rescue teams was inspirational. It is a privilege to be able to extend an invitation to Old Trafford."
