DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CompTIA, the IT industry association, today announced its Vendor and Telecom Advisory Councils each recently donated $2,500 to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to help advance its mission of honoring and empowering Wounded Warriors.
With the latest donations, CompTIA advisory councils and member communities have donated a total of $15,000 to WWP in 2014. Earlier this year CompTIA's Security Community and Managed Services Community each donated $5,000 to WWP's Economic Empowerment program pillar, which provides services to wounded service members on education, training and career counseling.
Stephanie Martin, CompTIA Partner Advisory Council member and CEO of the Exigo Group presented the most recent donation during a tour of WWP Headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.
"In my line of work I encounter a wide variety of professionals and companies. Without a doubt, this group made a great impression on me," said Martin. "The Wounded Warrior Project is a tremendous organization with a team dedicated to doing good things for our returning troops, and for our country. Thank you for all they have accomplished and all they intend to do in the future. A million times over, I thank them for their vision and for the effort, time and passion they put into helping others."
The Wounded Warrior Project is a 501(c) nonprofit whose vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded veterans in our nation's history. Over the past decade WWP has grown exponentially and currently serves more than 60,000 warriors and nearly 9,000 family members through its 20 unique, life-saving programs and services.
"At Wounded Warrior Project we are dedicated to honoring and empowering injured veterans and their families by not only nurturing their bodies and minds, but also encouraging economic empowerment and engagement," said Catherine McDonough, grants specialist from Wounded Warrior Project.
"We are grateful for the generous donations from CompTIA throughout 2014, all of which have allowed us to service more warriors and their families through unique, direct programs like Peer Support, Warriors to Work™ and the Independence Program. It is only through the support and generosity of the American public that we are able to make a difference in the lives of so many of our nation's veterans."
Each year CompTIA member communities and advisory councils donate money to deserving charities. In 2014 these groups donated more than $130,000 to charities that provide career and life-changing programs. Funding for these donations comes from the Creating IT Futures Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CompTIA.
