WASHINGTON, May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the technology industry, today announced the appointment of two new members to its State and Local Government and Education Executive Council.
Regina Kunkle, national vice president, state and local government/education for SAP; and Rick Webb, managing director, state, provincial, and local (SPL) growth market lead for Accenture, have been appointed to two-year terms on the executive council.
The State and Local Government and Education Council, a major part of CompTIA's public sector practice, is a consortium of executives from leading technology companies that serve the state and local government and education markets. The group provides direction to CompTIA on program offerings, events and policy positions related to the use of technology in the government and education sectors.
"Our Executive Council is an activist group, made up of leaders with substantive expertise and experience that allows us to engage in meaningful dialogue with state and local program leaders and elected officials," said Jennifer Axt, chairwoman of the council and general manager, state and local government and education, EMC. "We're pleased to welcome Regina and Rick to the executive council and look forward to their contributions."
Kunkle, who joined SAP in 2015, is dedicated to helping governments in their use of technology and solutions to positively impact and improve citizens' lives. She has also championed many events at major universities across the U.S. on getting young women and girls interested in science, technology, education and math and to the career opportunities available to them in technology and related fields. Kunkle was a finalist for the 2013 Stevie Awards Women in Business in the "Women Helping Women" category.
Webb has been with Accenture for over 13 years. He brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors and works with state officials throughout the United States to help them transform government by implementing better IT management and improved government operations. Prior to his career at Accenture, Webb served as the CIO of the State of North Carolina for three years, leading several complex IT initiatives, including a major IT reform initiative to strengthen the role of the CIO and promoting enterprise IT governance and management practices throughout state government agencies.
The CompTIA State and Local Government and Education Executive Council meets this week in Baltimore in conjunction with the midyear conference of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.
