DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Sept. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The state of information security – from the trends and threats organization face to the skills and capabilities IT professionals need – will be examined during the next installment of the CompTIA IT Professional Webinar Series, presented by CompTIA, the IT industry trade association.
"The State of Security in 2015 and Beyond: A Conversation" is set for noon CDT on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015.
Scheduled speakers include Tony Sager, senior vice president and chief evangelist with the Center for Internet Security, and Dr. James Stanger, senior director, product development, CompTIA.
"Clearly there is recognition of the importance of cybersecurity readiness for organizations across all sectors of the economy," Stanger noted. "Companies have invested heavily in technology solutions to counter the threats. But increased reliance on technology alone is not the cure-all. It must be accompanied by robust cybersecurity education, training and certification for IT professionals."
CompTIA's 2015 Trends in Information Security study found that more than half of the companies surveyed said greater interconnectivity of devices has complicated their security.
"As organizations have embraced cloud computing and mobile technology solutions, they've extended their security perimeter, creating new security considerations," said Seth Robinson, senior director, technology analysis, CompTIA. "Legacy security systems and practices are often not sufficient to protect this expanded perimeter."
CompTIA is at the forefront of cybersecurity protections, with best practices and credentials for organizations; certifications for IT professionals; and soon, cybersecurity awareness training for anyone who touches a PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet.
CompTIA certification holders who attend "The State of Security" webinar will earn Continuing Education credit toward renewal of their CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certifications.
