DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., March 15, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The role of technology in improving government service delivery will be the topic of two panel sessions at the CompTIA Annual Member Meeting in Chicago this month, CompTIA, the technology industry trade association announced today.
The panels – featuring experts from state and local government – will be hosted by the CompTIA Public Sector Councils during the association's Annual Member Meeting March 22-24 at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel.
"From city halls to the halls of Congress, the public sector is critically important to many of our members," said Nancy Hammervik, senior vice president, industry relations, CompTIA. "We're extremely pleased to offer our members the opportunity to hear firsthand from the decision-makers and policy-setters who are leading technology innovation in government."
The first panel, Harnessing Data in the Public Sector, will examine the ways in which government is using technology to harness data and analyze it for both practical uses and new innovations.
Four chief information officers are scheduled to participate in the discussion: Brenna Berman, City of Chicago; Hardik Bhatt, State of Illinois; Otto Doll, City of Minneapolis; and Dewand Neely, State of Indiana.
Harnessing Data in the Public Sector is set for 9:30 a.m. Central on Wednesday, March 23.
The second panel will explore how the State of Illinois is using technology in its delivery of health and human services to individuals and families.
Keith Schoonover, CIO for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and deputy director for the Illinois Healthcare and Human Services Innovation Incubator, and George Sheldon, director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, are the scheduled speakers. This session is set for 2 p.m. Central on Wednesday, March 23.
CompTIA's public sector practice includes the State and Local Government and Education division, a consortium of executives from leading technology companies that serve the state and local government and education markets; and the Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group, made up of companies that serve the human services technology market.
