ComponentOne Releases New Controls and Samples for Microsoft Visual Studio Developers

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- ComponentOne, a leading component vendor in the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner program, announced today the release of ComponentOne Studio Enterprise 2010 v2, a complete suite of custom controls for Windows, Web, and mobile application development. This is the company's second release of 2010 and includes enhancements across all platforms, new controls for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Microsoft Silverlight, along with fresh samples for ASP.NET.

The newest version of ComponentOne's WPF control set introduces five new controls: Calendar, ComboBox, DataGrid, Maps, and Toolbar. Each control is fully compatible with its Silverlight equivalent, allowing users to build both rich desktop client and Web applications with shared code. The suite showcases more than 25 WPF controls for use in high-performance data visualization solutions.

Modeled after the popular WinForms version, FlexGrid offers features such as unbound mode, flexible cell merging, row and column freezing, automatic subtotals, and multi-cell row and column headers.

The 2010 v2 collection of ComponentOne's ASP.NET AJAX control suite now leverages the power of jQuery bringing performance enhancements.  In addition to the power boost, the suite has three new samples with source code. One of the samples is based on the AdventureWorks SQL Server sample database and is a full-blown reference application for the fictitious AdventureWorks store. It's available to demo at http://demo.componentone.com/ASPNET/AdventureWorks/. It uses Entity Framework, Linq, AJAX, jQuery, and CSS.

Additional enhancements to the Studio Enterprise collection of controls include new features and design-time interactivity added to WinForms, new calendar control for Silverlight, and support for Apple's iPhone4 and iPad added to the ASP.NET-based iPhone controls.

Castilho shared the company has a list of BETA products that it is introducing this quarter: OLAP for Silverlight and OLAP for ASP.NET. "These controls provide analytical processing features similar to those found in Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts for the Web," said Castilho.
