CompassLearning Acquires Renzulli Learning
Launches a New Era in Personalized Solutions for Differentiated Instruction
AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- CompassLearning, a national leader in educational software for personalized learning, is acquiring Renzulli Learning, a University of Connecticut Research and Development Corporation that also specializes in customized solutions based on a high-engagement enrichment model. Together, the companies will create a new era in personalized instruction, offering a broader range of customization options and eventually extending their personalized approach to content from a wide variety of providers. This acquisition provides the tools and professional development needed to enable every teacher in America to provide differentiated instruction to all students. The financial terms of the acquisition were not released.

The acquisition will take advantage of the national focus on 21st century skills. Both companies' educational partners see personalized learning as a key element in any solution, and at a time when two-thirds of U.S. adults believe education is in crisis, CompassLearning and Renzulli Learning bring proven, effective solutions.
Joseph Renzulli, co-founder of Renzulli Learning, is a professor at the University of Connecticut, where he is also director of the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented. "Joining forces with CompassLearning is the next logical evolution in Renzulli's approach to the personalized learning model," he said. "We started with a gifted-and-talented program model and extended our approach to ensure we are able to impact all students through a strength-based pedagogy."
