Exelon Corporation Analyst Notes
On May 9, 2014, Exelon Corporation (Exelon) reported that its subsidiary, Exelon Generation, has provided Annual Emergency Brochures to local residents and businesses by mailing nearly 21,000 public information emergency planning brochures within 10 miles of Byron Generating Station. Exelon stated that the brochure contains information about the general emergency preparedness, comprising of reception center locations, evacuation routes, a map, and a list of emergency alert broadcast stations. Exelon added that the brochure includes a special needs card, which should be completed and returned by people who may have a special transportation or any other need. Southern Company Analyst Notes
On May 19, 2014, Southern Company reported leadership changes for its subsidiary - Alabama Power Company (Alabama Power). Southern Company informed that Foster L. Ware has been appointed as the Area Manager for the North region of Birmingham Division of Alabama Power. According to the Company, Ware will be responsible for the Alabama Power's operations and external affairs in Birmingham and in north, east and west Jefferson County. Further, Ashley Robinett has been appointed as Area Manager for the South region of Birmingham Division, along with responsibilities in South Jefferson and Shelby counties. Consolidated Edison Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 19, 2014, Consolidated Edison Inc.'s (Con Edison) Chairman, President and CEO, John McAvoy, said that it expects tailwinds from regional economic growth to benefit the Company in the coming years. Speaking at the Annual Shareholders' Meeting, McAvoy highlighted that "customer must be at the heart of everything we do". McAvoy pointed out that Con Edison spends $2.5 billion every year to maintain and upgrade the Company's extensive energy infrastructure, noting the company was again recognized as a national winner of a system-wide reliability award in 2013. Further, Con Edison is spending $1 billion over four years to protect its systems from violent weather and new smart grid technology is helping the Company operate more efficiently.
