Company Helps Put a Dent in Ending Homelessness
Homeless organization reaches goal with help of marketing company
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Empower Network is pleased to announce that the 100,000 Homes Campaign, a national initiative of Community Solutions, achieved its goal of helping communities find homes for 100,000 vulnerable and chronically homeless individuals and families in less than four years. Empower Network, a network marketing and software company, was a sponsor of the effort for the past year and loves seeing its investment pay off.

Empower Network joined the 100,000 Homes Campaign in July 2013 as a sponsor. Empower Network's founder, David Wood, spent years as a homeless person, which is one reason the company supported the 100,000 Homes Campaign as a sponsor.
Last year, the company donated a total of $17,500 to local affiliates of the 100,000 Homes Campaign in Anaheim, District of Columbia, Dallas and Denver during Empower Network events. Empower Network donated $2,500 to the 100,000 Homes Campaign at an Orlando event.
In 2010, Community Solutions launched the 100,000 Homes Campaign, a national movement of more than 200 communities working together to find permanent housing for 100,000 individuals and families in need by July 2014. The 100,000 Homes Campaign will continue to account for new people housed until a final number is reached at the end of July. In January, Community Solutions will launch Zero: 2016, a national effort to build on the success of the 100,000 Homes Campaign by helping communities lower the level of chronic and veteran homelessness to zero.
"Ending homelessness is America's next moonshot," said 100,000 Homes Campaign Director and former Army Captain Becky Kanis. "Campaign communities have shown that it is possible to end homelessness quickly and permanently, even for people considered the hardest to help. This is an urgent national crisis, and we are out of excuses."
The Campaign completed before the July 31 deadline with more than 230 communities participating and permanently housing more than 101,000 homeless Americans, including 31,171 homeless veterans. Additionally, these efforts have saved taxpayers an estimated $1.3 billion since the Campaign's launch in July 2010.
"Great organizational accomplishments like this are one of the many reasons that Empower Network seeks to give back to the community," said CEO Jonathan Cronstedt. "Helping those less fortunate than we are and providing a basic need to others is just one of many ways that we give back."
According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness' "The State of Homelessness in America 2013" report, more than 630,000 people experienced homelessness on any given night in 2012. Federal estimates indicate nearly 100,000 of those are chronically homeless, meaning they have been homeless for an extended period of time and suffer from serious health conditions.
"We are humbled to be part of the 100,000 Homes Campaign and its accomplishment of creating homes for people," Cronstedt continued.
