Community Bankers Trust Corporation Reports Submission of Amended SEC Filings

GLEN ALLEN, Va., Jan. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Bankers Trust Corporation, the holding company for Essex Bank (the "Company") (NYSE Amex: BTC), reported today that it has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the "SEC") amendments to its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the 2008 fiscal year and to its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for each of the first three fiscal quarters of 2009.  The filings were made in response to comments from the SEC regarding both the inclusion of financial statements and related information with respect to each of the Company's predecessors (TransCommunity Financial Corporation and BOE Financial Services of Virginia, Inc.) through May 31, 2008, and enhanced disclosures relating to goodwill and intangible assets, fair value measurements, FDIC-covered assets, asset quality and other items.  The Company also filed an amendment to its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the 2009 fiscal year to address SEC comments with respect to non-financial disclosures.

The additional financial statements and other enhanced disclosures that the Company presents in the amended 2008 Form 10-K were previously disclosed in the Company's 2009 Form 10-K, as filed in April 2010.  Similarly, the additional financial information and enhanced disclosures that the Company presents in the amended Form 10-Qs were previously reflected in the three Form 10-Qs that the Company filed in 2010.  The inclusion of the disclosures in these amendments was for the purpose of correcting the Company's historical disclosure documents, and not for the purpose of changing the information reflected in the Company's 2009 Form 10-K or any of the three Form 10-Qs that the Company filed in 2010.
