Community Bank Of The Chesapeake Supports Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association With "Casual For A Cause" Donation
WALDORF, Md., July 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Bank of the Chesapeake is proud to support fire and emergency medical services throughout Southern Maryland with a donation of funds from its "Casual for a Cause" program. Casual for a Cause is an annual initiative created by Community Bank to support local organizations while allowing employees to dress casually for the summer months. This year, the bank donated over $5,000 to the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association, a nonprofit group that oversees the organization of fire and rescue companies throughout Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's Counties.
"The Casual for a Cause program is a tradition among our employees that embodies our core value of elevating the communities we serve," said Bill Pasenelli, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank of the Chesapeake. "Over the past eleven years, we have supported many nonprofits in Southern Maryland and Virginia. This year, we acknowledge in a special way the hard work and dedication of our local fire and emergency rescue personnel. These organizations are an essential part of our community, and we are proud to play a small part in helping them continue to make a difference."
Representatives from Community Bank presented the donation check to the organization during a Firemen's Association meeting in late July. Fire and rescue officers in attendance approved a motion to use the funds to support equipment and facility upgrades for the Southern Maryland Regional Fire Rescue Training Center, located in La Plata.
Community Bank employees participate in Casual for a Cause by making a donation that entitles them to "casual dress" from May 1 through Labor Day. This year, contributions to Casual for a Cause totaled $6,500. In addition to the Firemen's Association, the bank will also donate to Empowerhouse, a women's shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
The Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association was founded in 1947 and consists of over thirty member fire and rescue companies. The organization was originally founded to organize the regional fire service in an effort to improve fire insurance rates, promote a kindly spirit among its members and strive to improve the service to the community.
