Community Bank of the Chesapeake Partners With Arts Council of Calvert County
WALDORF, Md., June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Bank of the Chesapeake and the Arts Council of Calvert County invite the public to stop into the bank's Prince Frederick branch to see local art on display. The bank recently partnered with the Arts Council to host a rotating quarterly exhibit at the branch as part of the bank's Community Art Series. The exhibit will feature original works by various local artists, and all artwork on display will be available for purchase.
"We are delighted to announce another addition to our Community Art Series," said Becky Henderson, Executive Vice President and Director of Sales with Community Bank of the Chesapeake. "Over the past year, we have hosted local art exhibits at three of our locations and they have been very well received by the public. We hope that everyone who visits our Prince Frederick branch will take the time to appreciate the works of these talented artists."
The Community Art Series was launched in 2014 when the bank partnered with the Mattawoman Creek Art Center, located in Marbury, to bring a rotating art exhibit to its La Plata branch. Since then, the bank has partnered with the St. Mary's County Arts Council at its Charlotte Hall branch, as well as the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, which displays artwork at the bank's Central Park location.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Calvert County, we are pleased and proud to partner with Community Bank of the Chesapeake in graciously supporting local artists in Calvert County," said Bob Carpenter, Executive Director of the Arts Council. "The art provided by the CalvART Gallery artists is among the finest in Maryland, and it is a true honor to see their work on display at the branch in Prince Frederick."
The Arts Council of Calvert County's mission is to invest in and encourage the arts in Calvert County by offering grants to schools and organizations for art related programs; summer art camps through a collaborative effort with Annmarie Garden; and the CalvART Gallery, a co-op gallery featuring local artists. As the official Calvert County arts organization as designated by the Board of County Commissioners, the Arts Council is funded by support from the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, private gifts, contributions, and fundraising activities and a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive.
