PALO ALTO, Calif., July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Econco Division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) has been awarded a five-year contract for up to approximately $15 million from the U.S. Navy. Under the firm-fixed-price contract, CPI will repair/remanufacture tetrodes to support the AN-SPY-1 radar system on the Aegis weapons system.

The contract was awarded by the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Work on the contract will be completed at CPI Econco Division in Woodland, Calif.
CPI has supported the Aegis weapons system, one of its most significant defense programs, for more than 30 years. The AN/SPY-1 radar system is a multifunctional, phased-array radar. It is the primary air and surface radar on the U.S. Navy Ticonderoga-class (CG-47) cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class (DDG-51) destroyers, as well as on the destroyers of several foreign navies.
