CHICAGO, Ill., Jan. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Nexant, a leading provider of software and services for utilities, announced today that two programs Nexant administers for its utility client Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) were honored with Exemplary Program designation by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The ACEEE Exemplary Programs recognize utilities and administrators that are funding and delivering excellent energy efficiency programs. Every five years since 2003, ACEEE has reviewed utility-funded energy efficiency programs nationwide. Included in its Fourth National Review are the ComEd® Energy Efficiency Program Small Business and Retro-commissioning (RCx) offerings.
"Nexant has a long and successful partnership with ComEd designing and implementing energy efficiency offerings that solve the unique requirements of each customer segment and deliver exceptional quality and value for both the utility and its customers. We congratulate ComEd on these awards and look forward to raising the bar on future initiatives" said Sam Mueller, Senior Vice President of Utility Services at Nexant.
The Small Business offering within the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program is an Energy Efficiency Service Provider-driven, incentive-based program for private businesses having a monthly peak demand level of less than 100 kW. As part of this initiative, ComEd matches up small businesses with pre-approved, qualified Service Providers, who do a free assessment of energy efficiency options. After conducting an in-depth assessment, the Service Provider provides a price quote with instant incentives and full implementation services. This turnkey approach offers a simple and cost-effective option to small businesses to improve their energy efficiency.
The ComEd Small Business offering has helped over 42,000 customers complete projects to achieve more than 1,000 GWh gross savings since 2011, saving them over $100 million in first year energy costs alone.
Similarly, the ComEd RCx offering aims to identify low or no cost solutions for building owners and managers, while also improving operations and occupant comfort. Under the RCx offering, ComEd provides free RCx assessments on facilities within its service area. Customers can not only avail this offer to identify operational improvements in their building to make it more energy efficient, but can also qualify for cash incentives based on the energy saved. In addition, customers can typically save an average of 5-10 percent on annual energy bills.
In the last three program years, the ComEd RCx offering delivered nearly 100 GWh and over 2 million therms of first-year savings.
