Commerce Assistant Secretary Nicole Y. Lamb-Hale to Highlight Export Opportunities to Canada
WASHINGTON, June 27, 3011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In 2010, Canada was the United States' largest export market, with more than $249 billion or 14 percent of all U.S. exports. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing and Services Nicole Y. Lamb-Hale will join members of the President's Export Council and U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson to discuss expanding export opportunities to this critical market at the "Export Challenges & Opportunities in U.S. – Canadian Trade" luncheon, Tuesday, June 28, at the Detroit Athletic Club.
President's Export Council Members Stephanie Burns, Chairman of Dow Corning, and Gene Hale, President and Founder of G&C Equipment Corporation will use the information discussed at the event in the Council's future deliberations on recommendations to the President on how to expand U.S. exports and create American jobs.
In 2010, U.S. exports to Canada increased 21 percent from 2009. Attendees will explore ways that Canadian and U.S. firms can work more closely together to encourage and expand exporting, and will be invited to discuss ways to cooperate on border issues to improve the safe, efficient, and legitimate movement of goods and people between Canada and the United States.
