Commended for quality: Bayer wins supplier award

PITTSBURGH, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the saying goes, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. That's certainly true of the demanding food service industry, where products need to withstand daily wear and tear, including rough handling and industrial cleaning processes, while still meeting food safety requirements. Cambro has named Bayer a 2013 Diamond Class Gold Level "Quality Assurance Vendor." The company utilizes a variety of Bayer materials, primarily Makrolon^® polycarbonate, which can be found in such products as drinkware, barware, food storage containers, dinnerware, measuring cups, trays, food storage containers, boxes and pans.

Polycarbonate provides clear advantage

Cambro has utilized polycarbonate from Bayer since 1979. Currently, Cambro uses Makrolon 2856 polycarbonate, a food contact quality grade from Bayer. Makrolon polycarbonate provides many benefits for food industry-related products, including exceptional durability ­ and clear visibility, which is necessary to determine food amount and quality.

Furthermore, polycarbonate is able to withstand the industrial cleaners and high-temperature water typical to commercial dishwashers.
