Command Medical Products Inc. Brings Backpacks to Nicaragua Families
ORMOND BEACH, Fla., Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For most parents, the beginning of a new school year brings a slew of expenses. This is even truer for those parents living in lower income countries such as Nicaragua.
In an effort to offset some of those costs, team members at Command Medical Products initiated a backpack collection drive to provide brand new backpacks filled with the necessary school supplies for the children of Command Medical Products employees at the corporation's sister facility in Managua, Nicaragua.
Over 155 backpacks were stuffed full of pencils, pens, crayons, erasers, rulers, calculators, notebooks, file folders and the like to ensure the children had what they needed to start the year right. In Managua, the school year calendar runs from February to November making the January distribution perfectly timed.
Close coordination between team members in both facilities ensured that enough backpacks were available and the supplies provided were in step with local school requirements. On hand to assist in the distribution of the backpacks was David Slick, Sr., corporate CEO and Carlos Gadea, plant manager of the Managua facility.
