Comfort Research Debuts Radically New, Lightweight Modular Furniture Platform To Las Vegas Winter Market
PATENTED NEW TECHNOLOGY APPLIES MOLDED POLYSTYRENE TO FURNITURE INDUSTRY FOR THE FIRST TIME
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- West Mich.-based Comfort Research, a leader in affordable seating solutions, launches a revolutionary new furniture platform today that makes use of expanded polystyrene molded frames to provide a lightweight, hardy alternative to traditional stick construction. The platform, called Orahh® Technology combined with premium style and performance textiles creates performance, durable, portable, and affordable furniture. Orahh will be available at virtual mass merchandise retailers nationwide this spring as new modular furniture lines under Comfort Research's existing Big Joe® and Lux® by Big Joe brands.
Comfort Research will debut the Orahh platform in its newly redesigned showroom (#A931) at the Winter 2017 Las Vegas Market, Jan. 22-26.
Big Joe products with Orahh Technology have a suggested retail price beginning at $72 for individual pieces and ranging upwards of $430 for sets. Lux by Big Joe, compatible for indoors or outdoors, is upholstered with Sunbrella® water and sun-resistant fabric. The Lux with Orahh line has a suggested retail price beginning at $200 per piece.
"This technology has the potential to be a game-changer for the affordable furniture industry in terms of the speed in which we can manufacture and the virtually limitless number of designs we can offer," said Matt Jung, president and co-founder of Comfort Research. "It's not about the chair, nor is it about any given shape, per se. It's the fact that we're a technology from the automotive industry and applying it in an innovative, new way to the furniture industry for the first time. In doing so, we believe we'll open entirely new possibilities for furniture buyers, designers and consumers."
As consumers increasingly expect more versatility from their indoor and outdoor furniture, Orahh technology offers a variety of new forms that span from traditional to contemporary and multiple fabrics options with easy, clean covers. The solid-base construction holds more than 1,000 pounds yet weights just a few pounds per piece. Additionally, Big Joe is equipped with a hidden handle making it portable and visually pleasing for both indoor and outdoor use.
"We started Comfort Research with the notion that style and comfort were concepts attainable for anyone and everyone who might desire them," said Chip George, CEO and co-founder of Comfort Research. "We believe Orahh is the next big step in advancing that notion and we're excited to see it come to life this year."
