Comedian Bob Marley performs at Lavallee Brensinger Architects' event benefiting Camp Susan Curtis
PORTLAND, Maine, Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of their Portland office grand opening, Lavallee Brensinger Architects hosted Laugh the kids "UPTA CAMP," a comedy event benefiting Camp Susan Curtis. Camp Susan Curtis is a 40-year-old Maine tradition exclusively for economically disadvantaged boys and girls ages 8 to 17. They serve all 16 Maine counties and tuition is free for every child.
Jeff Galvin, a Senior Associate with Lavallee Brensinger commented, "Volunteering our time and resources to better the communities in which we work, operate and live is a cornerstone value of the firm. We wanted to continue this tradition as we moved into our new home in Portland. It was absolutely fantastic to see such a large, diverse group of people from all over Maine show up to support such a wonderful and deserving organization. We're so excited to be part of this community!"
As with any nonprofit event, its success relies heavily on donors and sponsors. Sebago Technics, Inc., PC Construction Company, Becker Structural Engineers, Inc., Fitzemeyer & Tocci Associates, Inc., Office Resources/Knoll, Crabtree McGrath Associates, Inc., Thornton Tomasetti, and Genest Concrete readily agreed to support the programs of Camp Susan Curtis.
Invited guests arrived at Port City Music Hall and were greeted by the wonderful aromas provided by A Moveable Feast of Portland. Community members, donors, Camp Susan Curtis board members and area business people were treated with a performance by comedian Bob Marley. A local favorite, Bob Marley is a native Main'ah and has appeared on countless TV Shows including: Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Prime Time Live with Diane Sawyer, Comedy Central and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Following Bob Marley's performance, A Moveable Feast provided a tantalizing arrangement of decadent sweets.
Melissa Cilley, Executive Director of Camp Susan Curtis, said of the event "We are pleased and honored to partner with Lavallee Brensinger Architects on behalf of economically disadvantaged Maine youth at Camp Susan Curtis. Lavallee Brensinger is already a leader in many Maine communities and now, with a Portland office formalizing their presence, we know they will continue having a huge impact on this state."
