CHICAGO, Aug. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ComEd today announced it sold $250 million of five-year first mortgage bonds, maturing on Sept. 1, 2016 with a coupon of 1.95 percent and $350 million of 10-year first mortgage bonds, maturing on Sept. 1, 2021 with a coupon of 3.40 percent.
BNP Paribas Securities Corp., U.S. Bancorp Investments, Inc., Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., and Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., led the offering as joint book-running managers. The co-managers for the deal were CIBC World Markets Corp and PNC Capital Markets LLC. The sale is scheduled to close on Sept. 7.
ComEd's offering demonstrates its continuing support for diversity and inclusion. The deal included Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., a minority-owned firm that was mandated as a joint book-running manager.
ComEd will use the net proceeds from the sale of the bonds to refinance maturing tax-exempt bonds and first mortgage bonds, and use the remaining net proceeds for general corporate purposes.
A registration statement relating to the bonds has been declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The offering is being made by means of a prospectus supplement and an accompanying prospectus.
