Comcast's Washington State Region Recognized for Their Support of the National Guard and Reserve
CAMP MURRAY, Wash., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 11, 2010, the Washington State Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, honored Comcast's Washington Region with the Seven Seals Award. The award is in recognition for Comcast's extraordinary support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
"The ESGR's Seven Seals Award is a special category award given by the ESGR, and was created to publically recognize employers like Comcast," said Jim Shepherd, ESGR Washington Chair. "Comcast has provided outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to its employees when they were called to serve our nation."
Shepherd presented the award during a special Veteran's Day breakfast event Comcast held for its local Washington Veterans and Reservists at the Comcast Arena in Everett.
"We are extremely humbled and grateful to receive this award," said Len Rozek, Senior Vice President of Comcast's Washington region. "We have nearly 400 Veterans and Reservists working for Comcast in Washington, making up more than 10 percent of our local workforce. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these men and women not only for their dedication to serving our customers, but for their willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the spirit and promise of America."
The Seven Seals Award represents the seven military reserve components: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard Reserves, along with the Army and Air National Guard.
ESGR is a Department of Defense volunteer organization. It provides free education, consultation and, if necessary, mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees. ESGR's goal is to support America's employers who share their employees with the Department of Defense to ensure our national security.
As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions within America's borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of citizen warriors.
