CONCORD, N.H., May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Comcast Foundation today announced the 2017 recipients of its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program awards in New Hampshire. The program, funded by the Comcast Foundation, recognizes the best and brightest high school seniors for their community service, academic performance and leadership skills.
"I'd like to congratulate this year's Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners on their well-earned, academic and civic achievements," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Your continued pursuit of academic excellence is inspiring, and as you set out for the next chapter of your lives, we wish you the best of luck in your scholarly endeavors."
Governor Chris Sununu and Comcast recognized the students at a special event held at the State House today. "Comcast is honored to recognize our Leaders & Achievers Scholarship winners for going above and beyond – both in their own achievements and for the greater good of their communities," said Tracy Pitcher, Senior Vice President of Comcast's Greater Boston Region, which includes New Hampshire. "We wish each of them continued success and we congratulate their teachers and families for helping them excel."
The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who strive to achieve their full potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to prepare for the future and to engage them in their communities. The program also demonstrates the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.
Since 2003, Comcast has awarded nearly $350,000 in Leaders & Achievers Scholarships to 245 students in New Hampshire. This year, the program will award more than $2 million in scholarships to more than 2,000 students across the country to help them pursue higher education. Visit here to learn more.
