Comcast Names Sue Vaccaro To Newly-Created Position Of Senior Director Of Government Affairs For California
LIVERMORE, Calif., Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast has named veteran government affairs professional Sue Vaccaro to the newly-created position of Senior Director of Government Affairs for California, it was announced today by Mary Stutts, Regional Vice President of External Affairs for Comcast California. Vaccaro will report directly to Stutts, and will oversee Comcast's government affairs and telecommunications policy matters throughout the state. She will be based in the company's Livermore, California office, and will manage a team of government affairs field directors.

Vaccaro has spent the last 15 years at Republic Services Incorporated, an industry leader in U.S. non-hazardous solid waste and recycling, where she served as Senior Area Municipal Services Manager overseeing government relations and municipal marketing strategies for business retention and new business development in Northern and Central California.
She previously worked at Kaiser Permanente, leading the company's Public Affairs Department in the Sacramento Valley area and eventually serving as Associate Government Relations Director for California. Vaccaro also served as District Representative for U.S. Congressman Vic Fazio, and was Special Projects Director for the Solano Economic Development Corporation.
A lifelong Bay Area resident, Vaccaro previously worked in broadcast media and served as a researcher, writer and producer for KGO-TV, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco, from 1982 to 1990.
Vaccaro has received many awards and honors, including the California Senate Woman of the Year award and the Kiwanis CA-Neva-HI Distinguished Service Award. She has also served as an Honorary Commander for Travis Air Force Base and was Grand Marshal for the Fairfield 4th of July Parade.
Vaccaro is a board member of the NorthBay Hospital Foundation, the Solano Economic Development Corporation and the Fairfield Suisun Chamber of Commerce. She is also a former chair of the Solano County Library Foundation as well as the Workforce Investment Board of Solano County.
A native of Fairfield, California, Vaccaro graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and also attended the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business Executive Program.
Vaccaro and her family live in Fairfield.
