Comcast Introduces New Unlimited Statewide Calling Plan in Illinois
Offering Allows Consumers to Call Anywhere in State for One Price
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communications, today announced it is trialing a new calling plan designed to help local consumers save money on their phone bill. The new StateWise™ Illinois calling plan enables Comcast XFINITY Voice customers to place unlimited calls anywhere in Illinois for just $29.95 a month.
Comcast's StateWise™ Illinois plan gives customers the ability to reach out to family and friends throughout Illinois, including area codes 217, 309, 312, 618, 630, 708, 773, 815 and 847, for one price without any long distance charges no matter how often they call or how long they talk. The new calling area – stretching throughout Illinois and the entire metro Chicago area – represents a significant expansion of the defined local or metro calling geography of the traditional telephone companies.
"We constantly evaluate ways to improve our product and service offerings to deliver the most value to our customers," said LeAnn Talbot, Senior Vice President for Comcast's Greater Chicago Region. "The new StateWise Illinois calling plan enables our customers to call their friends and family throughout Illinois at a low monthly rate every month without worrying about long distance charges while enjoying all the innovative benefits of our XFINITY Voice service."
In addition to unlimited calling throughout the state, Comcast's new StateWise™ Illinois calling plan includes:
- 12 popular calling features, including Call Waiting and Caller ID, with optional voice mail;
- Unlimited calling throughout the state of Illinois;
- Long distance calling at 7 cents a minute outside of Illinois; and
- Everyday low pricing at only $29.95 per month.
StateWise™ Illinois is the latest example of new voice products the company has introduced in Chicago. Comcast introduced its Carefree Minutes Mexico 100 to its XFINITY Voice calling plan, allowing customers to call their family and friends in Mexico for only $4.95 more per month for 100 minutes. The plan has proven to be so successful that Comcast rolled out similar calling plans for Western Europe, Latin America and Asia. XFINITY Voice Unlimited still offers the best value for consumers by including nationwide calling anywhere in the U.S. as well as Canada and Puerto Rico for one low monthly price.
Comcast XFINITY Voice customers can benefit from a number of major enhancements, which are integrated with Comcast's video and high-speed Internet services, including:
- SmartZone™ Communications Center – a central online location where XFINITY customers can go to manage their email, address book and calendar; listen to voice mail and forward messages like email and remotely program their DVRs;
- Universal Caller ID – customers can view caller information on their phone, TV and PC; and
- Comcast Mobile – a free application for iPhone® or iPod touch® devices that brings your SmartZone features to your mobile device, including email, voicemail, address book, as well as your TV listings so you can program your DVR from anywhere.
