Announcers Dave Lewis, John Stege, Dan Dibley and Joe Castellano to Showcase Top Local Teams
LIVERMORE, Calif., Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), Comcast's regional cable network covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will kick off its 2015 sports coverage with 15 high school basketball telecasts (see complete schedule below or at http://comcastcalifornia.mediaroom.com). In its seventh season of covering prep basketball, Comcast Hometown Network will televise a schedule of boys and girls games and will feature a number of highly ranked high school programs throughout Northern and Central California.
The telecasts, which will be available on Channel 104 to all Comcast digital cable customers, will begin with a doubleheader on Wednesday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m. with Wood (Vacaville) at American Canyon.
CHN's schedule also includes LIVE coverage from the University of San Francisco on January 13th at 6:00 p.m. featuring cross-town rivals Saint Ignatius and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preps boys and girls games. And keeping in tradition, the schools will be playing for the coveted Bruce Mahoney Trophy which was inaugurated in 1947. It's named in honor of Bill Bruce and Jerry Mahoney, each an alumnus exclusively representing one of the schools, both of whom lost their lives during their service to our country in World War II.
"Comcast Hometown Network's continued coverage of prep sports showcases our commitment to providing local and regional coverage within the community," said Jeff Giles, Director of Comcast Hometown Network. "Channel 104 continues to evolve as a truly regional network with unique sports programming such as Game On, a local sports magazine show dedicated to female athletes and local and compelling programming like Upside, which offers in-depth news coverage, interviews and commentary with a positive slant."
Announcing duties for CHN's high school basketball games will be covered by Joe Castellano a local veteran announcer, Dave Lewis and Dan Dibley of KCBS 740-AM and John Stege the voice of Santa Clara basketball.
All of the high school basketball telecasts will also be available via Comcast's popular On Demand platform, which allows viewers to pause, rewind and fast forward games. To view the games via On Demand, Comcast digital customers should tune to Channel 1 (On Demand) and select Get Local > Local Sports > High School Basketball.
