Comcast Expands Xfinity Voice Service Availability in Virginia
Growing Portfolio of Advanced Products Delivers Even More Choice and Value to Customers
BALTIMORE, June 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast is rolling out its Xfinity Voice Unlimited Select service in Virginia, providing more residents the opportunity to receive phone service from Comcast – and, for the first time, take advantage of the company's convenient and cost-effective Triple Play bundles. Xfinity Voice is an innovative and reliable IP-enabled home phone service that delivers the functions of traditional phone service, plus enhanced features that are integrated with other Comcast services.
"Xfinity Voice takes home phone service to the next level by providing the most cutting-edge technologies and features and converging them with our Internet and video offerings, all delivered over Comcast's proprietary, managed network," said Tom Coughlin, regional senior vice president for Comcast.
Xfinity Voice provides an innovative and less expensive alternative to traditional phone service, and in most cases customers can switch to Comcast without having to change their current phone numbers. In addition to receiving 12 of the most popular calling features, like call waiting, caller ID and three-way calling, Xfinity Voice customers also receive unlimited local and long-distance calling in the U.S. and to Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as access to the latest advancements, like Text Messaging from Xfinity. With this feature, customers can leverage the Xfinity Connect Mobile app to text any phone number capable of receiving text messages using an Xfinity Voice phone number. In addition, customers can receive transcripts of voicemail messages via email with the new readable voicemail service.
Xfinity Voice customers also have access to Xfinity Connect, formerly known as the SmartZone Communications Center, a central site for customers to visit online and through the Xfinity Connect Mobile app. Through Xfinity Connect, users can check email, access voicemail and manage contacts, calendars and more. In addition, customers can check messages from all of their email accounts, and listen to, save and forward voicemails via email.
Xfinity Voice Unlimited Select service recently began rolling out in Virginia, and is now available in parts of the Charlottesville and Roanoke areas, including in the city of Salem and Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange, Pulaski, Montgomery and Roanoke Counties. Comcast plans to roll out Xfinity Voice Unlimited Select service to additional areas in its service footprint across the state in 2012, including in parts of the Harrisonburg and Lynchburg areas.
