Comcast Cares Day Lends a Hand to Vermont Communities on Saturday, April 24
Ninth Annual Day of Giving Expected to Attract 300 Volunteers at Four Sites in the State
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, today announced that it expects approximately 300 volunteers to turn out for its ninth annual "Comcast Cares Day" community service program in Vermont. This Saturday, April 24, Comcast Vermont employees and their families and friends, along with community partners and elected officials, including Vermont Governor Jim Douglas, will lend a hand at four sites across the state.
At the same time across the country, more than 55,000 Comcast volunteers are expected to participate in this annual day of service, which is one of the largest single days of corporate volunteer efforts in the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast helps to power dreams and demonstrate a year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves.

Vermont communities and community partners for Comcast Cares Day 2010 include the following:
- Arlington: Arlington Park -- painting and repairing buildings and picnic tables, trash pick-up, and park beautification
- Burlington: Boys and Girls Club of Burlington -- repairing a fence around the pool, shampooing carpets, landscaping and refurbishing a bike rack
- Montpelier: Washington County Youth Service Bureau / Boys & Girls Club -- painting a fence, building a new picnic table, landscaping, cleaning the facility and building cubicles for the children to store backpacks
- South Hero: Camp Ta-Kum-Ta -- staining a deck, installing a fence, mulching, raking & seeding
This year's Comcast Cares Day is expected to attract more than 55,000 Comcast employees and their families to more than 550 sites in 39 states and Washington, D.C. In New England, it is anticipated that more than 5,000 volunteers will pitch in at over 50 different projects. Since the first Comcast Cares Day in 2001, volunteers have devoted over 1.7 million hours of service to communities across the country.
The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year. Over the last eight Comcast Cares Days, the Comcast Foundation has also proudly donated over $8 million in Comcast Cares Day grants to local community partner organizations across the country.
