WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast announced today it has awarded almost $320,000 in Comcast Foundation grants to 69 community partners across Florida.
These grants are going to the organizations that Comcast teamed up with for its annual corporate day of volunteerism, the 17th annual Comcast Cares Day, back in April. As a part of the company's year-round commitment to giving back to the communities it serves, the Comcast Foundation provides grants to Comcast Cares Day partner organizations to support their missions throughout the year.
"These Comcast Foundation grants are being given in recognition of the almost 15,000 Comcast employees, their family and friends and community volunteers who participated in Comcast Cares Day projects across Florida this year," said Derek Cooper, Vice President of Government Affairs and Community Impact for Comcast in Florida. "The grants will expand the impact of Comcast Cares Day far beyond just one day and further support the important work being done in Florida communities by our nonprofit partners."
Among the grant recipients in Florida are local chapters of organizations Comcast also supports on a national level, including 100 Black Men, American Red Cross, Arc of the United States, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Habitat for Humanity, City Year, Girl Scouts, Girls Inc., Junior Achievement and Second Harvest Food Bank.
To date, the Comcast Foundation has awarded more than $22 million in grants to local non-profit organizations who have served as partners on Comcast Cares Day. For more information on Comcast NBCUniversal volunteer and community investment initiatives, visit www.comcast.com/community.
