Fields at Parker and Highland Ranch Campuses Receive Major Updates

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Students at Ponderosa High School in Parker and Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, along with members of their respective communities, are celebrating the completion of a major update project involving each school's athletic fields.

The fields were supplied by world-class synthetic turf company GreenFields in cooperation and installed by their partner contractor, Academy Sports Turf.

GreenFields has a worldwide reputation for being innovators in the area of artificial sports turf systems. The company also develops sports complexes for major sports bodies such as FIFA and the International Rugby Board. They currently boast over 2700 professional and professional-quality synthetic turf field installations worldwide.

"Ponderosa High School is absolutely thrilled with our new GreenFields synthetic turf field," said Tim Ottmann, Athletic Director at Ponderosa High School. "We have received so many compliments from our students, staff and the surrounding community."

Ottmann went on to say that the field at Ponderosa is already being put to good use by their football, soccer and lacrosse teams. "Our athletes have begun to comment on the improved performance and playability they are experiencing compared to the old field," he said. All the school's teams including the Ponderosa Mustangs and the Rock Canyon Jaguars are enjoying the benefits of the new fields.

The fields at Ponderosa and Rock Canyon were constructed using GreenFields Slide Max XQ. Academy Sports Turf replaced the existing 10+ year-old synthetic turf fields and retained the existing shock pads.

"Safety and durability were some of our main concerns," Ottmann said, which was one of the deciding factors in awarding the contract to Academy. GreenFields products have been proven to reduce game-related injuries through superior construction, friction reduction and heat reflection. The turf is also very durable and maintenance is very cost effective.

The field at Rock Canyon has also received praise from students, athletes and coaches.

"The field is fantastic and everyone within the school loves it," said Tom Brieske, Rock Canyon High School Athletic Director.

Both fields are now in use and open to the public.
