Colorado Governor Polis and First Gentleman to Present Inauguration Charity Check to The Wild Animal Sanctuary
KEENESBURG, Colo., March 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Newly-elected Colorado Governor, Jared Polis, made history in Colorado when he included in his gubernatorial platform a plank dedicated to animal welfare. While in one of his first public appearances as First Gentleman, Marlon Reis stated that "My passion is definitely animal welfare."
Animal welfare is so important to the two that one of the designated recipients of Polis' Inauguration Day proceeds was The Wild Animal Sanctuary located about 35 miles outside of Denver. Dedicated to rescuing captive-born large carnivores for more than 39 years, the Sanctuary is the world's oldest and largest such facility. Both men have been supporters of the Sanctuary for years.
At 4:30 p.m. on March 19, 2019 both Governor Polis and the First Gentleman will present the charitable proceeds from the Inauguration to Sanctuary officials in a presentation ceremony.
The event is open to the public at no cost and no RSVP or ticket is required. Rain, snow or shine, the presentation will take place at the Sanctuary, with public attendees and local dignitaries asked to arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the presentation will take place inside the Sanctuary's Welcome Center.
Admission will be free all day on the 19th in honor of this very special occasion and guests may arrive early or stay after the presentation to visit the Sanctuary via its elevated walkway. The Sanctuary will close at 7:10 p.m.
Refreshments will be provided and the Lion's Den Café (www.lionsdencafe.net) and a walkway snack bar are available for those wishing to eat a meal or enjoy a snack.
