Colorado Company Supports Local Charities With 5K
Second Annual ReadyTalk Race for Charities to Support Work Options for Women and Young Philanthropist Foundation
DENVER, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- ReadyTalk, a leader in integrated audio and web conferencing services, today announced the Second Annual Race for Charities, a 5K run/walk event to support local non-profit organizations. The Race for Charities is on Saturday, August 7 at 9:30 a.m. at City Park and is open to all registrants (and their four-legged friends).
"At ReadyTalk, community involvement, volunteerism and philanthropic activities are key components of our company culture," said Scott King, vice president of sales and marketing for ReadyTalk. "The Race for Charities is a way to raise greater visibility and community involvement for two organizations in our community."
The Race for Charities was started last year in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of volunteerism through local business and community involvement. Last year's event raised nearly $10,000 for two local charities and this year ReadyTalk hopes to exceed that amount.
The beneficiaries for the event are two Denver-based non-profit organizations: Work Options for Women (WOW) and Young Philanthropist Foundation. WOW provides "hands-on" culinary training to homeless and unemployed women and helps them become employed in the food service industry, while Young Philanthropist Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging youth in philanthropy by creating opportunities for kids and families to give back to their communities.
"ReadyTalk employees have strong ties to these two organizations, having spent time volunteering and participating in programs with both organizations," said King "Our employees are passionate about supporting and connecting with local organizations. The race gives them an opportunity to share this enthusiasm with friends, family and the Denver community."
To encourage internal support of local non-profit organizations, every ReadyTalk employee receives 20 hours of paid volunteer hours per year to volunteer with an organization of his/her choice. Additionally, the company supports employees' philanthropic efforts by matching individual donations dollar-for-dollar up to $500 annually.
At the conclusion of the race, participants, spectators and their families are invited to celebrate with refreshments and entertainment. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners of the Men's and Women's age brackets and to the winner of the team competition. All participants will be automatically entered into a post-race drawing that will feature prizes; including memorabilia signed by Denver Nuggets superstar, Nene, premier restaurant gift certificates, and much more.
