Colorado-Based Building Solutions Company Gives Back For Its 45th Anniversary
VAIL, Colo., Nov. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In observance of its 45th Anniversary, The Gallegos Corporation, a Colorado-based specialty trades contractor, embarked upon three "Legacy Projects"; one in each geographic area the company has offices.
"Gallegos has always been community minded and has strived to give back to the communities we call home," said Gary Woodworth, CEO of The Gallegos Corporation. "We firmly believe that it's the people that have made us successful; our employees, partners and customers. To be able to acknowledge our own anniversary with volunteerism was only fitting."
In the Vail Valley, Colorado, The Gallegos Corporation and its employees provided labor and materials to pave a shaded area located next to Roundup River Ranch's fishing and activities pond. Roundup River Ranch is a medical specialty camp founded by actor Paul Newman and committed to serving children with serious illnesses and their families by giving them a safe, but fun, place to escape their day-to-day lives.
There was a need for the paved area so that campers in wheelchairs, on crutches, or who can't easily navigate unstable surfaces could still safely enjoy the pond. The paving project was not attainable through the camp's budget. Gallegos volunteers stepped in to get the job done in one day and provide access to the pond for campers this summer and for years to come.
Soon after, Gallegos saw an opportunity to provide labor and materials in building an outdoor learning space (classroom) at Crystal River Elementary School, located in Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley. In little time, Gallegos employees were placing a concrete foundation for the learning space and completing stonework for seating and aesthetics. The classroom was completed in time for the start of the school year at Crystal River Elementary and since then the school's children and teachers have enjoyed a creative and enjoyable place for outdoor lessons.
To complete the 45th Anniversary legacy project initiative, a new firehouse was built for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department to replace the one that was lost in the 2012 High Park Fire. This fire station is extremely important to Colorado Front Range residents living in the Rist Canyon area who count on the volunteers in the case of fire and other emergencies. Gallegos learned of the need for help in replacing the station through the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute (RMMI). Gallegos volunteers played an important role in spearheading the organization of material and labor and the recent completion of the new Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department Fire Station.
Gallegos specializes in residential and commercial masonry, concrete, stucco, plaster, granite, marble, art rock and tile. For more information on Gallegos visit www.gallegoscorp.com or call 800.Gallegos
