JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Colo5, LLC, a leading independent data center operator headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, announced the successful completion of its first Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16. The audit was conducted by Harrell & Widener LLC, a full service accounting firm providing SSAE 16 Type I and Type II audits that evaluated the Company's design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and processes. Colo5 is the first data center in Northeast Florida to achieve the new SSAE 16 compliance.
"It is critical in today's technological environment that we stay committed to adhere to the highest standards of quality. Our successful completion of SSAE16 is testament to this commitment," said Colo5 CEO, Doug Recker.
SSAE16 supersedes the previous standard, SAS70, to keep abreast with the changes in regulatory compliance for service organizations. The SSAE 16 attestation is a rigorous inspection of the controls and safeguards a company has put in place to manage and secure its customer's data. The process of compliance requires independent third party verification by a licensed CPA firm as to whether these controls and safeguards put in place by the company are operating effectively over a designated period of time.
"I'm extremely proud that Colo5 is the first SSAE 16 certified data center in Northeast Florida," said Recker. "Completing this attestation is essential to continuing to provide best in class services to our clients."
Completion of the SSAE 16 attestation expands the prospective client base of the Colo5 data center to organizations required to meet that need to meet PCI, SEC or HIPAA requirements. The new certification is a critical compliance to such organizations that require the highest security and technological standards.
