The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, a day before the World Congress opens. The invitation-only event will include thought leaders from global organizations focused on men's health, holistic family health, and eHealth.
For several years, the Collins Center has administered a program focused on the health needs of poor men in the U.S. and around the world. The organization has also been an active participant in past Congresses and works closely with the Vienna-based International Society of Men's Health.
"This event is in keeping with our mission to advance important social and economic public policy issues," said April Young, Vice President of Health and Justice Initiatives at the Collins Center.
The objectives of the event are to:
- Discuss the importance of poor and underserved men's health around the world and in the context of holistic family health.
- Build the nucleus of a community focused on eHealth for men's health.
- Establish a strategic path forward for improving men's health and holistic family health through eHealth implementations.
Combining the attendees' respective areas of expertise to help develop a plan, the goal is to form a strategy and concrete path for improving men's health through information technology solutions. This interactive and fast-paced meeting will be facilitated by Vital Wave Consulting and its CEO, Brooke Partridge.
A follow-up meeting will be held two weeks later at the 2010 mHealth Summit in Washington D.C. (Nov. 9-11) and will include some of the MHWC attendees.
