Colliers International: Knowledge Leader Spring Issue Reports on CMBS, Tony Blair, Nonprofit Innovation
SEATTLE, Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The CMBS market is making a comeback, although there are caveats, according to the Spring 2011 issue of Knowledge Leader, the official publication of Colliers International. In addition, Knowledge Leader presents nonprofit sector innovations, a key SIOR scholarship program and a feature on the global influence of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Produced three times annually, Knowledge Leader includes an executive roundtable focused on the evolution of markets and sectors across the industry. The Spring 2011 edition reports that:
- While total CMBS issuance is expected to increase from $16 billion in 2010 to $50 billion in 2011, there is reason to anticipate turbulent waters for new issuances;
- Among others, nonprofit organizations such as Northwest Evaluation Association and Global Partnerships have found ways to mix innovative real estate and business principles to support socially responsible endeavors and generate revenue;
- Commercial real estate firm Concert Properties purchased a 50-acre, 1.1 million-square-foot Class A industrial facility in Toronto, the first such activity in that market in more than two years;
- And former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair recently hosted a charitable event in San Francisco, sponsored by Colliers International and attended by more than 600 business, real estate and community leaders, benefiting the Tony Blair Faith Foundation.
Further, the Colliers International executive roundtable noted that retail leasing is showing improvement, but there are large vacancies among big-box spaces and a potential issue for small- to mid-size retailers looking to re-enter the market. The industrial sector is rebounding nicely, and the multi-family sector is seeing increasing activity and enthusiasm.
"Knowledge Leader magazine is another venue for Colliers International to provide the market with best-in-class analysis and industry perspective," said Dylan Taylor, chief executive officer in the U.S. David Bowden, chief executive officer in Canada, notes: "We are dedicated to delivering thoughtful, market-specific information that helps our clients and colleagues accelerate their success."
Knowledge Leader is distributed to thousands of senior business executives and real estate professionals in North America.
