College for Creative Studies (CCS) Offers Part-Time MFA
DETROIT, Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Going back to school can be a daunting task, whether it's directly after completing undergraduate work or ten years later. But programs like the new part-time Master of Fine Arts degree at College for Creative Studies (CCS) can make the transition easier. By either choosing the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Design or Transportation Design, students will have the flexibility to work full-time or part-time while embarking on a world-class education.
"Our MFA programs, while new, have been very successful in these first two years," says Joanne Healy, associate dean of Graduate Studies at CCS. "But after talking to several students, we learned that a part-time program would serve a greater audience and provide more students with an opportunity to get a world-class design education."
CCS has partnered with the University of Michigan's renowned Ross School of Business for the MFA programs. Students learn business fundamentals from the Ross faculty. This partnership with a premier business school provides graduates with the foundational tools required for implementing design concepts, making strategic business decisions, and becoming effective leaders in organizations. The new part-time program provides learners with the same courses and faculty that are available to full-time students. However, part-time students can take classes on their own terms to accommodate professional and personal commitments.
The graduate programs are located in Detroit's New Center. The Albert Kahn-designed facility once served as GM's first research and design studio -- now called the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education. With evening and weekend class times, the new part-time MFA program allows students to take classes in preparation for new and expanding opportunities in business and design. A Master of Fine Arts degree from CCS can give students a distinct professional edge. In addition to the new part-time MFA, CCS continues to offer a full-time MFA option. To explain the options available, there will be an MFA program information session on Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Visit CCS on-line at http://ccsmfa.com/mfa/part-time/ or phone (313) 664-7814 for more information.
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is an integrated learning community located in Detroit. A private, fully accredited college, CCS enrolls 1,400 students pursuing Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. CCS also offers visual art opportunities for learners of all ages through its Community Arts Partnerships and Continuing Education programs. The Advancing the Creative Spirit campaign enables CCS to provide a world-class art and design curriculum and innovative programming. The $55 million campaign has raised more than $45 million to date, and the College is working hard to keep its promise to the community.
