Maryland is part of the beautiful Chesapeake Bay region, home to renowned natural beauty. It's also one of the most densely populated states in the country, with roughly six million residents who call it home. Maryland boasts the highest median household income of any state, thanks to a highly diversified economy that ranges from manufacturing to agriculture to biotechnology.
"The variety in Maryland's economy is due in part to the state's colleges and universities, which represent a key factor in Maryland's continuing growth and success," Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "Whether you're interested in a traditional, residential college experience, or you're looking for the flexibility of an online degree in order to take advantage of Maryland's great opportunities, our two lists have got you covered."
College Choice developed its lists by looking at academic quality, institutional reputation, program accreditation, along with return on investment—the differential between tuition costs and average early career earnings. Data came from the National Center for Education Statistics, Payscale, and U.S. News & World Report.
