Demand for highly qualified nurses has been growing due to both demographic realities like an aging population, as well as the changing role of nurses themselves.
This demand has led to a huge increase in the number of Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs available, many delivered exclusively online.
"The job outlook for nursing professionals is outstanding, with an expected growth rate of 17 percent," Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "Registered nurses who have a BSN make, on average, over $67,000 per year."
College Choice developed its list by looking at per credit tuition for online BSN programs, and determining which are the most affordable for students.
The ranking for the 20 Most Affordable Online Bachelor's in Nursing Degrees for 2017 finds Georgia Southern University in the top spot. Fort Hays State University is in second, and Georgia College and State University rounds out the top three.
