Software engineers are on the front lines of the innovative American economy, and in the next few years, the employment of software engineers is projected to increase by a huge 22 percent. Colleges and universities that invest in their software engineering programs, therefore, have an opportunity to make a large impact on the future of the American economy.
The College Choice ranking seeks to help prospective software engineering students decide which schools fit their educational and professional interests, as well as which are feasible for their financial situation.
"Software engineers will make, on average, an annual salary of $100,690, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics," Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "And these numbers reflect just those engineers who have a Bachelor's of Science degree. Both employment rate and salary go up exponentially for those with advanced degrees."
To create this ranking, College Choice collated and compared the academic reputation, student satisfaction, affordability, and average annual salary of early career software engineering from software engineering programs across the country to create a definitive ranking of the nation's twenty best.
