The field of actuary science is an exciting field that is tailor-made for people who love statistics, risk analysis, math, and business. It is also a field that needs more professionals, which has led to the creation of this ranking.
"Actuaries play an extremely important role in commerce, and in the insurance industry in particular. Their job is to analyze the potential risk of an investment and assess whether that risk will pose a net loss or gain to the company they work for," Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "This is a career that is projected to grow over the next five years, ensuring that students who take up this profession by getting a degree in actuarial science will be in high demand once they graduate."
The College Choice 2016 ranking for Best Bachelor's in Actuarial Science was created using a nationwide survey that is published annually by the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA. This survey is done by freshmen at various schools, including the schools listed in the ranking, that focuses on factors such as the overall cost of attendance, financial aid packages, academic reputation, and employment rates after graduation. Other statistical and ranking sites were used to ensure the information used to grade the schools was correct.
