PITTSBURGH, Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Cohen & Grigsby, a business law firm with headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA and an office in Bonita Springs, FL, is paying tribute to one of Pittsburgh's treasured painters with "Remembering Charlie Pitcher 1927-2009," the newest art exhibit featured in C&G Gallery in the firm's headquarters in Pittsburgh (EQT Plaza, 625 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA). The exhibit presents a memorial retrospective of the late Charlie Pitcher's work. It is described by many as simultaneously realistic and abstract studies of rural western Pennsylvania landscapes, especially the region's many species of trees.

"At Cohen & Grigsby, we are proud and pleased to present the work of Charlie Pitcher, a painter whose highly developed aesthetic has been recognized nationally and treasured locally for decades," said Jack Elliott, president and CEO of Cohen & Grigsby. "There is no better way to memorialize a man who poured his heart and soul into his work. Mr. Pitcher's lifelong pursuit of excellence and fastidious attention to detail echoes Cohen & Grigsby's dedication to our 'Culture of Performance,' a philosophy that guides the entire firm."
This new exhibition is the latest example of Cohen & Grigsby's commitment to supporting arts and culture in western Pennsylvania. When the firm re-established its headquarters in the city's Cultural District, firm leaders decided to set aside Cohen & Grigsby's lobby area as an art gallery where local artisans could feature their works. To date, the firm has hosted several public art exhibitions and has partnered with organizations that include the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Cohen & Grigsby is now in the third year of a partnership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as the presenting sponsor of the "Trust Presents" series, which brings a diverse array of entertainment to Pittsburgh's Cultural District.
"Our unique gallery space is specifically designed to showcase the talents of Pittsburgh-area artists, and Charlie's stylized and intimately detailed canvasses are some of the finest to be produced in our region," Elliott added. "We hope everyone who visits will enjoy this exciting collection of Charlie's work as we honor his legacy and continue to enable artistic and cultural pursuits to flourish in our city and beyond."
Charlie Pitcher's finely rendered paintings of the western Pennsylvania woodlands are detailed to the extreme. At times, the artist used a brush with only a single hair to achieve fine lines, such as at the ends of branches. Upon his death in October 2009 at the age of 82, Mr. Pitcher left behind an impressive collection of work, all of which expertly study trees, limb structures, the color and texture of bark, and the interesting abstract elements that nature creates.
"Remembering Charlie Pitcher 1927-2009" will be on display at C&G Gallery from December 15, 2010 through January 28, 2011. To view the exhibit, please call 412-297-4900 to make an appointment.
